The Perigord region strectches over a 100 kilometer area from north to south and is today known as the Dordogne. Its rivers and hillsides carpeted with forests, fields and orchards, combine to create a unique landscape.
Manmade monuments are a testament to the historic richness of the region; the cave paintings at Lascaux and Eyzies; the bastides; abbeys and castles of many different styles and eras all encapsulate the character of the Perigord.
The region is world famous for its gastronomic produce : ducks, geese, foie gras, truffles, chestnuts, walnuts, strawberries and the vineyards of Monbazillac and Bergerac.
